SiFive, a fast-growing chip startup backed by Nvidia, has reached a valuation of $3.65 billion after raising $400 million in new funding.
The investment round was led by Atreides Management, with support from major investors including Nvidia and others. This shows strong confidence in the future of AI chips and data center technology.
SiFive does not directly manufacture chips. Instead, it creates customizable chip designs based on the open-source RISC-V architecture. These designs allow companies to build their own processors for AI, cloud computing, and data centers.
The new funding will help SiFive develop high-performance CPUs specially designed for AI workloads. As AI systems become more advanced, there is growing demand for powerful and efficient processors to handle large-scale tasks.
One key reason behind SiFive’s growth is the shift toward open-standard chip technology. Unlike traditional chip designs controlled by companies like Arm, RISC-V allows more flexibility and customization. This makes it attractive for tech giants building their own AI infrastructure.
